Introduction

It is one of the subjects taught to medical students in third year-minor curriculum. The main objective of providing state-of-the-art and the latest ophthalmic facilities to the patients. The department operates OPD and OT on all working days of the week.

1. To provide eye care services to people in washim and neighbouring districts under national program for control of blindness and visual imparement.
2. To develop a pattern of sound and resilient education in Ophthalmology.
3. To undertake training of the Ophthalmologists, Optometrists etc.
4. To create facilities for the training of health personnel in Preventive Ophthalmology.
5. To provide facilities for research in Ophthalmology.
6. To provide facilities for the training of personnel for the rehabilitation of the blind.
7. To provide facilities for the training, organization and research in Eye Bank, including corneal grafting and tissue transplantation.
8. Provide training to ophthalmology residents under district residency program.
